(Business consulting and Real Estate),

iRONMAN USA CHAMPIONSHIP at New York CIty. 8/11/2012. This is the race that I did in honor of people affected by cancer.
Ironman story: Press Release.
Why do I do this: What is a Triathlon?
Let us make generous donations for cancer patients and their families.
Seven years ago, I was in bad shape and had to work 24/7 in order to support my family. After the tragedy of 9/11, my retail business faced a vicious downhill spiral. My situation left me feeling out of control and as a result, I was in a deep depression while being drained both mentally and physically.
One afternoon I was surfing the internet and came across an interesting post about a new sport called Triathlon. I wanted to challenge myself and decided to start training for one. I began by training with four friends and we bonded, attending local races together. We trained for a life changing three years. This came to an end after one of my friends tragically passed away from pancreatic cancer last year. He left behind his wife and two beautiful young children. I went through such grief and sorrow this past year. This incredible man was my training partner, supporter, and most importantly, my good friend. Shockingly, a few months later another friend in our group was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He underwent an extensive surgery to remove his prostate.
Now as I am writing this, I myself have found a tumor. The doctor said that it is not cancerous at this point in time but must be regularly checked. I realize that when you have a cancer, you are shaken and your life takes a completely different turn.
My father passed away from liver cancer along with other members of my family. Through these sad experiences, I know what it feels like to deal with this ordeal both as a family member and having the disease yourself. I would like to share the long and painful journey with you readers and the families of these cancer patients. Anything from just a dollar to 5 dollars that you donate will make a huge difference for cancer patients and their families. To make your generous donation,

A little background of the birth of Triathlon:
Triathlon was born on the island of Oahu in beautiful Hawaii. More than 30 years ago, an ambitious group of swimmers , bikers and runners showed up to compete in a race to see which athlete was the toughest. Now it has grown to become one of the world's fastest growing sports. The Ironman course consists of a 3.9 km swim, 180 km bike and 42.149 km run which comes to a total of 140.2 miles. This must be completed under 17 hours and once you cross the finish line, you become an Ironman.
I retired from racing four years ago after 25 triathlon races and 10 marathons. Little did I know that I would decide to challenge myself again and train for the Ironman in NYC.
I hope that I can cross the finish line in honor of my friend and his family. My wish is that my participation in this race will unite, inspire, and empower people affected by cancer. With every stroke, pedal stroke, and step that I take, your generous spirit to help these people in need will keep me going strong.
With all the training and hard work I put into this race, I will do my best to finish with the passion and appreciation of life.
Thank you.
